QuickBooks Online connection

Connect or Reconnect SSC Bookkeeping Bridge

Follow these steps to authorize SSC Bookkeeping Bridge to work with the QuickBooks Online company you select. Connecting the Bridge does not automatically post a journal.

Before you begin

  • Use the Windows computer where SSC Bookkeeping Bridge is installed.
  • Start SSC Bookkeeping Bridge from the Windows Start menu.
  • Sign in with a QuickBooks Online administrator or a user permitted to manage third-party apps.
  • Confirm the exact QuickBooks Online company you intend to connect.

Connect for the first time

  1. Open the Bridge Setup page using the button below.
  2. Under Bookkeeping provider, select QuickBooks Online and save the provider.
  3. If the Bridge displays an environment choice, select Production for a real company. Sandbox is only for testing.
  4. Select Connect QuickBooks production or the equivalent Connect button displayed by your installed version.
  5. Intuit will open a secure authorization screen. Sign in directly with Intuit, review the permissions, choose the correct company, and approve the connection only if the details are correct.
  6. After Intuit returns you to the Bridge, verify the connected company name and company identifier.
  7. Test the connection, review the Chart of Accounts, complete account mappings, and prepare a dry run before enabling or approving any posting feature.

Open Bridge Setup Return to the Bridge page

The local Setup link works only while the installed Bridge is running on this Windows computer.

Reconnect an existing company

Reconnect when QuickBooks reports that authorization has expired or been revoked, when the Bridge displays a connection error that requires new authorization, or when an authorized administrator intentionally replaces the existing connection.

  1. Open Bridge Setup on the installed computer.
  2. Confirm that QuickBooks Online and Production are selected.
  3. Select the displayed Connect or Reconnect button.
  4. Complete Intuit’s authorization process and select the intended company.
  5. Return to the Bridge and verify the company identity before preparing or posting anything.

Protect your credentials

Enter your Intuit username, password, and any verification code only on an Intuit-controlled sign-in page. Do not send those credentials to SSC and do not enter them into the Bridge. Review the company name and permissions shown by Intuit before approving access.

What the connection permits

The Bridge uses the permissions approved through Intuit to identify the connected company, read supported accounting information such as the Chart of Accounts, maintain the authorized connection, and perform bookkeeping operations that the user separately requests and confirms. Available write operations depend on the installed version and its safety controls.

A successful connection by itself does not approve account mappings, create a journal, or authorize automatic posting. Continue in the Bridge to review the source day, mappings, tender grouping, journal lines, amounts, and destination company.

Troubleshooting

  • If the local page does not open, start the Bridge from the Windows Start menu.
  • If Intuit blocks the connection, confirm that you are an administrator or have permission to manage apps.
  • If the wrong company was selected, disconnect it before authorizing the correct company.
  • If the Bridge reports an error, record the time and displayed Intuit trace identifier, but do not send access tokens or passwords.
